Upton Childrens Centre

Year: 2011
Client: Worcestershire County Council

Situated in the conservation area of Upton-upon-Severn this scheme provides two new classrooms for nursery and reception years with a new children’s centre and learning resource room. The building creates a walled courtyard on the north side, echoing a number of the historical buildings in the town.

The building is finished in Siberian larch rainscreen cladding and has an extensive sedum blanket green roof to help reduce and slow rainwater run off, which is particularly important as the area regularly suffers from flooding.

The completed Upton Children’s Centre was officially opened by Ed Moore (Chairman of Worcestershire County Council) and Sara Lee (School Governor) in June 2011.
